The Vancouver School of Economics (VSE) is proud to congratulate Economics and Statistics student, Connor Krawelitzki for being Highly Commended, as well as Economics and Math student, John Zhou as a Global Winner at the 2016 Undergraduate Awards.
Although Zhou was a Global Winner in the Business category, his winning paper was written for ECON499 and heavily oriented in econometrics. His paper entitled, “Momentum Strategies: Returns From Trend-Following, Data-snooping, and Market Efficiency” was successful not only due to his hard work but to the guidance of VSE professors, Nicole Fortin and Kevin Song.
The Undergraduate Awards (UA) is an international competition based in Ireland and each year 100 students worldwide are shortlisted and 50 winners selected. It is the largest and most prestigious international academic awards program, receiving submissions from every discipline. The UA aims to celebrate and support the world’s brightest and most innovative undergraduate students by recognizing their coursework and projects.
Of the 5514 submissions received this year, 65 were from the University of British Columbia (UBC), resulting in six Highly Commended and one Global Winner.
