Dr. Jesse Perla is this year’s recipient of the Bank of Canada Governor’s Award, announced today.
Perla, an assistant professor at the Vancouver School of Economics, is a macroeconomist whose interests include economic growth from the perspective of the firm, the role of information diffusion, and machine learning. He utilizes data science and computational methods in his research and teaching.
According to the central bank, The Governor’s Award “provides financial support to academics who are recognized for their expertise and research in areas important to the Bank’s core functions.”
The award comes with a $30,000 research grant per year for a term of up to two years.
