In 2025, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt. Mauricio Drelichman (Vancouver School of Economics at UBC) delivered this lecture, which describes the work which merited the prize this year, as well as a deeper dive into the research career of Joel Mokyr, who served as Drelichman’s PhD advisor at Northwestern University.
