Researchers Dr. Réka Juhász (University of British Columbia) and Dr. Nathan Lane (University of Oxford) have been awarded a prestigious grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in order to expand their research on industrial policy.
The award, totalling 770K USD, was granted to further the work of the Industrial Policy Group, a research organization led by Juhász and Lane. “This funding will allow the Industrial Policy Group to accelerate empirical research on industrial policy and widen the group of researchers working in this space,” said Juhász, who teaches at UBC’s Vancouver School of Economics. This expansion comes in the form of additional positions for graduate student researchers, and provides funding to sustain multiple positions for the next three years.
The Industrial Policy Group is dedicated to empirical analysis of industrial policy, and frequently publishes research in top economics journals. Its research also regularly receives news coverage, including the New York Times and The Economist.
