Réka Juhász Selected by the Bank of Canada for the 2025 Governor’s Award



The Vancouver School of Economics proudly congratulates Dr. Réka Juhász on being honoured with the prestigious 2025 Bank of Canada Governor’s Award. From the Bank of Canada, “The Governor’s Award provides financial support to academics who are recognized for their expertise and research in areas important to the Bank’s core functions.” This prestigious award is only provided to one academic per year, and was awarded to Réka in recognition of her expertise and research in industrial policy.

When asked to share a quote about the significance of this award, Réka replied, “I am so honored to receive this award. By recognizing research on industrial policy, I hope a new generation of researchers will be attracted to the field.” Réka’s research specializes in industrial policy and economic development, exploring the role of industrialization in shaping economic growth, with a focus on trade, innovation, and government policy, earning her numerous honours for her contributions to the field. As the co-founder of the Industrial Policy Group, an empirical research lab that aims to deliver core empirical research surrounding industrial policy, Réka strives to make industrial policy a serious object of economic study.
