Congratulations to Jane Platt on receiving the Wesbrook Scholarship, one of UBC’s most prestigious awards!
A passionate leader and researcher, Jane has made significant contributions to public policy and women’s rights. Her award-winning honours thesis examined the impact of parental involvement laws on minors’ abortion access in the U.S., she presented her work at national conferences and contributed to key research initiatives, including econometrics education and inequality studies. Beyond academics, she has mentored students, fostered community engagement, and championed mental health initiatives.
Jane was also part of the team charged with establishing the Stone Centre on Wealth and Income Inequality in October, 2024, helping to develop a graduate course focused on the intricacies of inequality and poverty.
