VSE Prof. Matt Lowe has won the 2019 Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Award for his paper on caste integration among cricket players in India.
His paper tests how to bring people of different castes together and have them achieve collaborative goals.
“Collaborative contact between different castes had all sorts of positive effects on social interaction and efficiency, while adversarial contact had negative effects,” he said.
Lowe’s paper is the first to systematically test for the effects of different types of contact.
He won the award earlier this year in Munich at CESifo’s ninth annual conference on behavioural economics. CESifo is a global independent research network.
