Dr. Jonathan Rhys Kesselman passed away on Sunday, February 25th, following a short illness.
Rhys was our colleague in the UBC Department of Economics from 1972 to 2003, so many of VSE’s longer-tenured colleagues have treasured memories of him. Myself, I remember his excitement to talk to me about tax policy during my fly-out recruiting visit in 2001. His engagement with Canadian tax policy continued during his time at SFU and even since retirement—he just had a new article on capital gains accepted at the Canadian Tax Journal.
