Manika Marwah (BIE ’20)

Manika Marwah (BIE ‘20) was drawn to the Bachelor of International Economics program to better understand economic trends around the world.

One such trend Marwah studied at the BIE was menstrual hygiene in India, the topic of her final thesis project. She said this experience helped her realize the skills she wanted to utilize the most in her career.

“I like research, report writing, and working with data,” she said.

It’s these specific skills she now uses as a data center researcher in Seoul at the International Data Corporation, a global provider of market intelligence and advisory services for the IT industry.

Marwah’s role includes conducting market research and analyzing consumer survey data to produce intelligence reports and presentations for IDC clients.

One of my projects has been to write an in-depth profile on a key IT segment and its vendors in the Asia-Pacific region, which involved desk research, vendor interviews, and developing a revenue model,” she said. “The work is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research and report-writing.”

Marwah, who is originally from New Delhi, India, said she owes her success at the workplace to the skills she gained in the BIE program.

“The BIE equips you with skills to do well in a variety of different fields within economics,” she said. “I benefited immensely from the program and translated that knowledge to my job.
