Robert Evans is a Professor Emeritus of the Vancouver School of Economics and is currently a Professor of Economics and Health Care and Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC.
Professor Evans is an internationally renowned leader in the field of Health Economics and was the founding director of the Program in Population Health at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His research has focused on comparative studies of various health care systems and their funding.
Two of his books, Strained Mercy: The Economics of Canadian Health Care and Why Are Some People Healthy and Others Not? are classics in the field that have been highly influential both in the academic literature and in policy making.
Professor Evans is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer in the Order of Canada.
