The Vancouver School of Economics is hosting the 2025 British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) meetings for economics. This two-day conference is a mixture of business meetings, professional development, and networking for economics faculty from colleges and universities across BC.

The Iona Building
The meetings will be held in the Vancouver School of Economics’ historic Iona building located on the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh traditional territory. Meetings are held in rooms IONA 301. The address is:

Getting to Iona
The Iona building is located on the north-western end of UBC’s Vancouver campus, on the tip of Point Grey. It is accessible by several modes of transportation:
- By public transit: there are three major bus lines that serve UBC, all of which leave from the Skytrain. Take the R4 41st Ave to UBC from Joyce, the 49 UBC from Metrotown or Langara Skytrain station, or the 99 UBC B-Line from Commercial-Broadway or City Hall Skytrain station. From the bus loop, Iona is a 5-10 minute walk north, through the Walter Gage residences.
- From the airport: from YVR airport, you can can either catch the Canada Line to Langara Skytrain station, then transfer to the 49 UBC bus (as above), or you can catch a cab. Cabs have preset fares to UBC.
- By car: parking is available at UBC on an daily basis; it caps at $20 per day. The closest parkade to Iona is the North Parkade; there is no all-day street parking near the building. The Iona building is a 5 minute walk north, past the Walter Gage residences and tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ.
- Do not park in the parking lot in front of IONA, as it is permit-only. You will be ticketed and towed.
- By bike: Iona lies on the Metro Vancouver cycling network and is easiest to access via either the Seaside bikeway (from the north) or University Boulevard from the east. Bike storage lockers are available upon request.

How to Register
To register for the meeting, click the link at the top of this event, or click here. This will redirect you to the VSE secure payment portal.
- Select “Add to Cart”.
- Fill out the registration form, including all required fields.
- Select “Checkout.”
- Fill in the email address where you would like to send confirmation, and hit “Continue”.
- Fill in your payment information, and hit “Continue.”
- Confirm your details and agree to the payment terms, then hit “Submit Order.”
You should receive an order confirmation shortly after the processing is completed.
Hotels
There is no dedicated conference hotel, but there are several local hotel options for attendees visiting from out-of-town.
- UBC offers three different hotel-style rooms on campus:
- The West Coast Suites: directly adjacent to the Iona building.
- The Gage Suites: directly adjacent to the Iona building.
- TRIUMF House: a 10-minute walk or 2 minute bus ride north on Wesbrook mall.
- The next closest options are private hotels including:
- The Holiday Inn on Broadway: a 20-minute bus ride, on the 99 UBC B-line.
- The Carey Centre at UBC: directly adjacent to the Iona building.
The Iona building is also about a 35-40 minute bus ride, or 15 minute car ride from downtown Vancouver, which has a large number of hotels.
