About

Dr. Chowdhury Shameem Mahmoud joined UBC in September 2018. He teaches courses in economics and statistics.

He has also taught at York University, University of New Brunswick in Saint John, and Concordia. He designed new courses and participated in curriculum development at Concordia and York. At York, he contributed to the launch of the Accounting Certificate Program, designing from scratch two of the certificate courses, one on principles of economics, and the other on introductory statistics. This involved working out lesson plans, course outlines, student evaluation tools, and producing audio lectures for online versions of these courses.

Outside the primary responsibility of teaching, his research primarily focuses on market structure and market power issues in applied microeconomics.

He obtained his PhD from Purdue University.
