VSE Student Wins Bank of Canada Award

VSE student Hugo Jales has won the Bank of Canada Student Paper Award. The award is based on an evaluation of both his paper, “Estimating the effects of the minimum wage in a developing country: a density discontinuity design”, and his presentation of the paper at the 2015 Canadian Economics Association annual conference. As part of his prize, Hugo has been invited to present his paper at a Bank of Canada seminar.

This is the second award Hugo has received for his research, having won a prize in 2014 for the Best Student Paper at the first annual conference of the International Association for Applied Econometrics. Congratulations Hugo!

Of note, an Honourable Mention for this prize was given to Chad Kendall, VSE PhD alumni.
