“The Canadian Inequality Story” was the subject when Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz visited the VSE recently. Professor Stiglitz is the inaugural Lind Initiative Visitor to UBC. The Lind Initiative in US Studies seeks to inspire students to become thought leaders who enhance mutual understanding in Canada-US relations.

During his visit to campus, the VSE and the Liu Institute for Global Issues were very pleased to host a panel discussion with Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz and VSE Professors Thomas Lemieux and David Green, two of Canada’s top labour economists, with insightful introductory comments provided by VSE Professors Craig Riddell and Nicole Fortin, whom are also esteemed labour economists.

Thank you to everyone who attended this event. The room and observation lounges were filled to capacity, with over 200 people attending. A video of the event is available for free viewing online.
